Resumo

James White, apesar de sua má condição física, foi reeleito presidente da Associação Geral e da Associação Editorial em maio de 1866. Apesar de ser oficialmente o presidente dos Adventistas do Sétimo Dia, não conseguiu cuidar dos assuntos administrativos por determinado tempo. Assim, durante 1866 e 1867, Ellen White resolveu deixar de lado muitas de suas responsabilidades e dedicou-se quase inteiramente à restauração do marido. James White, um reformador de saúde. Perfeito? Não. Negligente? Longe disso! Sua vida provou o contrário. Ele recebeu a mensagem de saúde com alegria e dedicou grande parte de seu esforço para vivê-la e pregá-la. Por que investiu tanto dinheiro, tempo e energia nisso? Ele acreditava que ela não havia sido inventada por humanos, mas tinha selo divino. Sem ele, definitivamente, a igreja teria caminhado mais devagar no caminho da reforma de saúde. Nele, Ellen White tinha um braço forte que a ajudava a seguir a luz, publicá-la e pregá-la onde quer que tivessem oportunidade. James White foi um reformador fiel, um exemplo a ser seguido. Não é um exemplo perfeito, mas foi um homem para seu tempo, zeloso e trabalhador.
