Resumo

James White, no Brasil também conhecido como Tiago White, foi um dos líderes e fundadores do adventismo do sétimo dia. Sendo um homem de disposição enérgica e dons administrativos, James estava basicamente por trás de todo grande projeto em que os adventistas embarcavam. Sua vida, porém, não foi vivida em um ambiente confortável nem em um platô triunfante. Pelo contrário, foi marcado por privações, abatimentos e perseverança. Várias vezes afligido por doenças, deprimido por enxurradas de críticas e cercado por pobreza e privações, James sucumbiu a uma constituição física frágil que acabou levando-o a uma sepultura precoce. Este homem, no entanto, foi um gigante no adventismo. Apesar de todas as enfermidades e dificuldades, ele, em conjunto com sua esposa, contribuiu mais do que ninguém para o desenvolvimento, organização, institucionalização e crescimento do emergente adventismo sabatista. O que o sustentou? Além da misericórdia e poder de Deus, a reforma da saúde.
