This article aims to discuss how the phenomenon of symbolic constitutionalization has been decisive for the existence of the Brazilian democratic crisis (2013-2018), which still undermines the country's democratic environment. This study ia qualitative nature, being an exploratory literature review with the main theoretical framework of this research being the concept of symbolic constitutionalization by Marcelo Neves (2007). Based on the findings derived from this work, it is expected to outline observations regarding Brazilian democracy in the face of its decline and the main issues of this crisis since the 2013 protests, through the decline of the ‘petismo’, up to the election of Jair Bolsonaro.
