Abstract: Literacy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be challenging, but also very rewarding. In this process, teachers need to understand the importance of knowing and welcoming children through meaningful relationships, promoting a safe, welcoming and respectful environment, capable of motivating and promoting a sense of belonging in students with ASD. Another important step is to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each child. This may involve using visual aids such as cards with large, colorful print, incorporating sensory activities, and consistent repetition. Furthermore, creating a structured and predictable environment can be beneficial for children with ASD during the literacy process. This may include using clear routines and minimizing excessive sensory stimulation. Additionally, it is essential that educators and parents work in partnership to support the literacy of children with ASD, adapting strategies according to each student's needs, promoting support and motivation inside and outside the classroom, nurturing practical experiences and meaningful experiences for children, and celebrating each achievement along the way.
