Resumen
This article aims to explore the Greek expression ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ, “this rock,” and examine to whom or to what it refers in the text of Matthew 16:15-19. A brief overview of the main arguments regarding the phrase ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ in Matthew is offered, following an exegetical examination of this passage. The article has demonstrated that the phrase “this rock” (ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ) is in parallel to Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Messiah, The Son of The Living God, and as an implication, the church rests upon this solid and unique foundation
