Abstract
RESUMO
O propósito deste artigo é analisar o lugar que o darwinismo ocupa no debate entre a ciência e a religião. Através de um apanhado histórico, o artigo apresenta o desenvolvimento da teoria da evolução a partir de alguns de seus principais expoentes. O artigo aponta para o fato de que o estabelecimento do darwinismo como paradigma interferiu nas relações entre ciência e religião, tornando-as, no entender de muitos, como áreas rivais. As implicações teológicas do darwinismo são analisadas, apresentando
as diferentes vertentes de interpretação do relato bíblico da criação
no interior da cristandade.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this article is to analyze the place that Darwinism occupies in the debate between science and religion. Through a historic retrospective, the article presents the development of the evolution theory based on some of its major exponents. The article points to the fact that the establishment of Darwinism as a paradigm interfered in the relations between science and religion, becoming, for many, opponents in these areas. The theological implications of Darwinism are analyzed, presenting the different aspects of the interpretation of the biblical account of creation in the interior of Christianity.
