Resumo

Romanos 8,19-23 tornou-se um texto favorito para os ecologistas que procuram motivos bíblicos para promover uma abordagem positiva em relação à criação não-humana. Este artigo procura traçar o desenvolvimento do interesse ecológico neste texto e propõe uma análise narrativa como uma estratégia pela qual o significado e a contribuição do texto podem ser explorados de maneira frutífera. Os vários elementos da história de ktisis são apresentados, e finalmente o artigo oferece algumas indicações preliminares sobre as formas como esta história poderia informar uma resposta teológica contemporânea ao “gemido da criação”.
