APLICABILIDADE DA LASERTERAPIA DE BAIXA POTÊNCIA NA MOVIMENTAÇÃO ORTODÔNTICA E REDUÇÃO DA DOR: REVISÃO NARRATIVA

Introdução: O tratamento ortodôntico representa um
complexo de procedimentos odontológicos baseados
na correção da maloclusão e/ou da estética. A dor pósajuste
e o longo período de tratamento têm sido os
principais motivos pelos quais os pacientes deixam de
realizar esse tipo de intervenção. A terapia com laser
de baixa potência (LBP) é um método de irradiação
não invasivo que utiliza radiação não ionizante com
efeito bioestimulador. Objetivo: Avaliar a influência
do LBP na aceleração da movimentação dentária, bem
como na capacidade de analgesia durante o tratamento
ortodôntico. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão
narrativa da literatura baseada através da busca ativa
de artigos durante o período de junho a agosto de
2020, publicados nas bases de dados Pubmed, LILACS
e Scielo, através da combinação dos descritores Decs/
Mesh na língua inglesa: “Low-Level Light Therapy”,
“Photobiomodulation”, “Analgesia”, “Orthodontic
Tooth movement” e “Orthodontics”, usando o operador
booleano AND. Após análise inicial, um total de 57 artigos
preencheram os critérios de inclusão. Desenvolvimento:
Forças ortodônticas aplicadas durante a movimentação
ortodôntica desencadeiam a inflamação, que libera
células responsáveis pela remodelação óssea e mediadores
químicos capazes de tornar o tratamento doloroso.
O LBP produz efeito analgésico através da inibição
de substâncias indutoras de dor, além de estimular
o metabolismo celular e a remodelação óssea, com
aceleração do movimento ortodôntico. Considerações
Finais: O LBP é um método eficaz para acelerar a
movimentação dentária e reduzir a dor provenientes
do tratamento ortodôntico. Todavia, mais estudos são
necessários na tentativa de se obter a real eficácia e o
melhor protocolo a ser reproduzido.
