Abstract: Objective: To correlate invasive care procedures performed in NBs and the occurrence of neonatal sepsis. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, carried out between March and April 2023. According to the research through two databases: VHL, using the DeCS crossing with the Boolean AND operator in the search, as follows : Neonatal Sepsis and “Intensive Care Unit” and “Nursing”, found about 45 articles; And PUBMED, using the MeSH crossing of the Boolean AND operator in the search, as follows: "Neonatal Sepsis" AND "Intensive Care Unit" AND "Nursing" identified 179 articles. Results and discussion: Neonatal sepsis has been shown to contribute to an increased risk of neurodevelopmental delays. Characterized as a risk factor, it is known that the incidence of sepsis in premature infants, due to innate immunity, leads to defects in the recognition and clearance of microorganisms, was highly associated with care procedures. Conclusion: It can be concluded that prematurity with low birth weight is one of the main risk factors for the development of sepsis, along with the risks involving the NB through invasive procedures. Even so, further studies related to the subject are needed due to existing gaps in the literature.
